PRF Process

FAQs

Who is a good candidate for PRP/PRF Hair Restoration?

PRP/PRF is an effective treatment for both men and women experiencing hair thinning, male pattern baldness, or female pattern hair loss. It is most effective for patients who are in the early to middle stages of hair loss and still have living hair follicles. A thorough consultation is necessary to determine if you are a candidate.

How does the treatment process work?

This is a three-step non-surgical procedure performed in our office:

  1. Blood Draw: A small blood sample is taken from your arm.

  2. Processing: The blood is spun in a specialized centrifuge to isolate and concentrate the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) or Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF).

  3. Injection: The growth-factor-rich plasma is precisely injected into the scalp areas experiencing hair thinning.

Does the procedure hurt?

We prioritize your comfort. While the injections can cause minor discomfort, we utilize a topical numbing agent and specialized injection techniques to ensure the process is as comfortable as possible. Most patients tolerate the treatment very well.

How is PRF different from PRP?

Both use your body's own growth factors, but PRF is the next generation of regenerative aesthetics. PRF is processed differently to create a natural fibrin scaffold that releases growth factors slowly and continually over a longer period. This sustained release provides prolonged stimulation, making PRF a superior option for maximizing tissue and follicle regeneration.

How many treatments will I need, and how often?

For optimal results, we typically recommend an initial series of 3 to 4 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. After the initial series, maintenance treatments are recommended every 6 to 12 months to support continued hair growth and follicle health.

When will I see results?

Since PRP/PRF stimulates your body's natural hair cycle, results are gradual. You may notice less hair shedding within the first month. Visible results, such as new hair growth and increased hair density, usually appear 3 to 6 months after the first treatment, with peak results often seen around the 1-year mark.

Are there any side effects or downtime?

Side effects are minimal because we are using your own blood. You may experience some mild redness, swelling, or minor tenderness at the injection sites for a few hours. There is virtually no downtime; most clients return to their normal activities the same day. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and hot showers for 24 hours.
